My daughter is married to a wonderful Marine who has been re-assigned 3 times in 4 years requiring she and their young children move each time. She is also a full time teacher. The most recent election was a bureaucratic nightmare because each state has passed so many voting restrictions. She spent 2 days of her 5-day visit with me in October (on family leave with new baby) on the phone with county officials trying to establish where she could legally vote. Though she argued she was the spouse of a Marine Captain (she didn't want to use his rank, but that was the only measure that garnered any attention) with part-time voting officials who thought they knew more about federal laws than the Marine liaison she contacted. We finally had my brother, a lawyer, reach out to other contacts in SC and threaten the piss ants with voter suppression. One abhorrent official offered "we can't just let anyone who is registered to vote..." The pompous ass even suggested my daughter should have re-registered before going into labor while moving herself and the children from NC to SC. That is when this Momma bear had enough, took the phone from her cub and ripped the official a new one, threatening legal action! This was disgraceful! I cannot even imagine what people of color, minority's and other diverse citizens endure when trying to vote.
