Yay, good start Bill Cassidy; term limits! If the interests of our congress members is really to “make a difference” as so many politicians claim, limiting their time in office might be just the incentive needed to get them working. I know there are road blocks and red tape that clog up the system, but from my distant view over here in my life and circumstances; I see pointless bickering between people trying to do good and evil opportunists that use the stupidity of their constituents to gain power and money. This is a good start, but I don’t think it goes far enough. Why 18 years, is that how long it takes to get a government pension and benefits for life? Perhaps sponsor a similar bill in addition to this one that prevents people, taking government assistance, from voting. So one must be paying taxes to have a say in how the government works. Go back to how the founding fathers meant the system to work, where the intelligentsia, (businesspeople and land owners, not the generally poor and uneducated masses) had the right to vote. All most of those downtrodden people hear is, what the government is going to do for them or give to them. Thus voting for the one who promises the most to them. But I digress, begin by limiting those in Congress who would seek a job that gives them power to control rather than to make change; and do us all good by allowing us to pay more attention to the pursuit of life, liberty and happiness.
