This would reduce crime, free up law enforcement so they can focus on real crime and ease the burden on the costly and overcrowded prison sysyem. Thousands of non-biolent offenders end up being incarcerated for cannabis and end up learning become criminals. Add that fact to the enormous financial and social difficulties they encounter upon release and the result is that prohibition is turning thousands of people each year into criminals. Also this causes hardship for the rest of their families who without their presence and source of income often end up involved in criminal activity themselves. This has an effect on the entire community because it snowballs into a never-ending cycle that is passed on from one generation to the next. This madness is so unnecessary and needs to end immediately. These laws are only causing harm and are not benefiting anyone, only creating more and worse problems that affect the entire nation.
