Sanctuary cities should not lose funding. Many undocumented immigrants come to the United States via incredibly difficult circumstances, live here in less than desirable situations, and work hard at less than desirable jobs. Sanctuary cities should not be punished for upholding American ideals, set forth to inspire all, by way of the Statute of Liberty: "Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, the wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-lost to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door." The New Colossus, Emma Lazarus (November 2, 1883)
