Come on. This is just silly. First of all, get a warrant. Second, if you want to deal with things like drug abuse, deal with things like income inequality. Rich addicts probably aren’t the ones buying their drugs online from China. There’s a good amount of data to support that the way to get people off of hard drugs is to address their situation. So, income inequality comes into play in a huge way. Slumlords. Not having to work ridiculous hours. Stronger community and other social ties. Basically, less stress and more friends and a lot of people would get off and stay off drugs.
As an aside, part of what seems to have fueled the opioid crisis could have been handled better if marijuana were legalized. So, that’s another thing to get into. A few weeks ago, I had to go to the ER and got my first morphine experience. I now understand the appeal; it helped with the pain and felt amazing. I also got a nice bottle of Norco or whatever to manage the ongoing pain. Weed would have been just as effective without the dependency risks.
