Being a South African citizen, it's hard to just sit back and watch while our country is stripped of its precious biodiversity. Knowing that something has to be done and actually doing something about this problem are two very different things. So I figured, it's simple. The importance of the preservation of South Africa's precious biodiversity outweighs the "need" for a new shopping mall. Think about the effects that this shopping mall project will have in the long run. Soon there will be no more biodiversity to fight for, only artifacts to show and stories that we may or may not be able to tell our children. Soon we will live in a barren land that will have once had so much potential. A shopping mall isn't going to enhance our natural wealth... Preserving our ecosystems and wildlife will.
