I was born in Vega Baja, PR, in Dec. 29, 1928, and raised there in deep appreciation for the Puerto Rican culture! Later I studied in local schools and civil engineering at the Mayaguez CAAM College. After graduation, worked with the PR govt. in highway survey and design, before being drafted into the U.S Army during the Korean War. After the war, using my GI Bill rights and a PR, govt. scholarship studied city and regional planning at the Univ. of P.R, (School of Public Adm.), MIT and Harvard and completed my M.C.P. in 1960 at MIT. Went back to PR to comply with my duties under my gov. scholarship at the Industrial Development Agency (PRIDCO) where I worked until my retirement with 30-yr. service, where I reached the position of Planning Director. Since that time I have worked at various institutions as planning consultant, planning director and recently as volunteer with the Catholic Cursillo Movement and the Municipality of Vega Baja, P.R., being 85 yrs. old! I keep abreast of the progress of my community and my Island, and have a 2nd. home in Deltona, FL, which my wife, Nilda, which I married 60 yrs. ago, and I visit often. We had 5 children and 11 grandchildren and up to now two great-grandchildren! Thanks all to God, my family and my community. Best wishes for a very Happy Christmas and a rewarding New Year! Owen N.
