When I took a horticulture class at Fresno City College in the spring of 2012, I grew cayenne peppers, heirloom tomatoes and a little cilantro. I was in the Sustainable Action Club, which put in garden plots there, also. We saved organic materials for a compost pile, which we turned on occasion. It was satisfying to grow healthy foods organically.
When I was living in my mother's house near City College, I really enjoyed taking care of the apricot tree that I had picked out for her in 2003, I believe. Those apricots were delicious! In 2011 the tree had an abundant crop of wonderful fruit, that I would only pick from when the fruits were ripe. I enjoyed letting my mother see how much I enjoyed caring for the tree and fruit. It was a shame that the dark forces of this planet caused her to have to lose the house to foreclosure. It was especially sad to see the apricot tree getting ready to have another great year, only to have all of its crop stripped off while still green, at the direction of the bank, after I moved out.
My father intended to leave me some of his tribal lands, after he passed, which was August, 2012. He left my sister in charge of handling the distribution of his tribal lands, which are on five different tribes' reservations. She has informed me that the Yakama apparently will not let his lands go to people who are not enrolled in that tribe. I am enrolled in the Cowlitz Indian Tribe, which is still waiting to get our first trust land, on which is planned a massive casino complex, on the 152 acre plot. My sisters and I cannot belong to both tribes. The farmland my father had on the Yakama reservation is out of my hands. But if I were to gain title to it, I would want it to go organic.
You would help me, as well as yourself and others you care about if you decide to take this pledge to go organic. It would help solidify the movement to respect all life on our sacred Mother Earth. We are all one, so let's enjoy it. Let us show our support for others who are committed to sustainable, natural life. It begins when you decide to be "in" with the right way of living. Thank you.
