Congress will only be fully in session on Monday and Tuesday this week to allow House Democrats to attend their annual retreat, which will begin Wednesday in Baltimore, Maryland.

\n\n

On Monday the House will consider seven bills under suspension of the rules, including legislation to require law enforcement agencies to obtain a search warrant before searching a person's emails through their internet service provider. Tuesday will bring three resolutions to the House floor that seek to overturn regulations finalized by the Obama administration related to teacher preparation, state accountability plans for their education system, and land use plans developed by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) in conjunction with state and local authorities.

\n\n

The Senate will spend Monday exhausting the 30 hours of post-cloture debate on the nomination of Betsy DeVos as secretary of education. A final vote on her confirmation could come late Monday evening or Tuesday. After that, the Senate could cast votes to begin debate on the nominations of Sen. Jeff Sessions, Steven Mnuchin, and Rep. Tom Price to their Cabinet posts. Other confirmation votes are possible later in the week.
