Oh, you don’t have a home? Get arrested for sleeping. Mother of God, help us. Why not use the money wasted arresting people who are already lost in society to help them find traction, get back on their feet, and become part of the social fabric again? Many states have already created similar strategies—and are saving tons of money by actually helping rather than punishing those who are most vulnerable. So many homeless people are either veterans or mentally ill. Help is the answer, not punishment. Are we a Christian nation or not? It hurts me to see this.
