This is simply being used as an anti-immigration tool by the Trump administration and some Republicans in Congress. Whether people who respond to the census are citizens or not, we need to know how many people live in the country and where they live--this citizenship question might scare too many non-residents away from answering the census survey. This could lead to inadequate funding for schools, children's medical care, and other important support that all humans (and especially children) deserve, whether they are citizens or not.
