We have been so woefully irresponsible in our response to climate change. We should be trying everything to see what works, but instead we let corporate interests dictate policy, and we do almost nothing. Give us cap-and-trade, carbon taxes, sequestration research grants, and federal subsidies for wind, solar, and battery technologies. We should be devoting a significant percentage of our GDP on facing this crisis head on. We're going to need sea walls and wetland restoration to protect coastal communities, as well.
