Toxic Algae Spreads Across U.S., Threatens Drinking Water

The algae blooms currently swamping Florida canals are due to waste dumping by sugar companies and others into a lake that dumps into the canals. This is not a new problem but neglect and indifference by pro corporation state governments has let it grow into a serious public health problem. In Florida, dumping should be illegal and corporations should pay for the efforts to restore ecological balance in the canals. Wildlife is dying, especially the turtles. In this day and age, we should be enlightened enough to be proactively protecting the environment for the good of all species instead of doing the bidding of corporations focused only on profits. Water is important people! Who is ignorant enough to disregard the importance of water to every living thing?
