An LNG tank is currently being built at the Port of Tacoma in WA state, without all currently required reviews & permits. It is situated on Commencement Bay, on silty soil, in earthquake prone territory. It is within 2 miles of residential areas and schools and near a (for profit) federal detention center. The project is being greenwashed by Puget Sound Energy, and protected by City & Port officials with shady $ signs in their eyes. This means fracked gas will be transported by rail & truck through densely populated areas, not to mention the harms to streams, rivers and Puget Sound. The international agency specific to LNG logistics has weighed in that the site is unsafe for LNG. This bill would subject millions more to harm & danger of LNG in inappropriate places.
