    Cash bail incentivizes guilty pleas from innocent poor people because it's the only way they can get out of jail in a timely manner because otherwise they may be in jail for months before a trial. Cash bail also allows for-profit bail bond businesses to profit off people who can only afford 10% of their bail, while the state throws money away to incarcerate people who can't even scrounge up the 10%. Cash bail is also wildly inconsistent among judges and jurisdictions, so it's an inherently unjust measure which severely harms certain people. Cash bail makes a mockery of the phrase "innocent until proven guilty."
