When an employee makes a racist comment on twitter or berates some one the street, their employer has a right to fire them because they represented the company poorly in public. THIS IS NOT THE SAME. This was a private text message, no different than if I were to text you right now and say "Oranges are bad". This is a blatant violation of privacy and freedom of speech. This administration knows nothing but crass interpretations of our laws.
