Licensing is a way to assure that a person is a trained professional in a field. Firefighting, for example, is a dangerous and highly-skilled profession requiring training on a variety of complex equipment. Yet complex licensing laws in many states are blocking qualified individuals from working in their field. Licensing should certify professional skills and training, not prevent it. BTW - $3 pay for a dangerous job like firefighting is criminal in itself!
