Congress has a busy week ahead, with the Senate set to re-confirm the FCC chair who’s led the charge against net neutrality, while the House will consider a bill banning abortions after 20 weeks of pregnancy and the budget for fiscal year 2018.

\r\n

The House convenes Monday to consider a number of bills under a fast-track process known as suspension of the rules, including a bill to codify into law court rulings preventing the Forest Service from impeding the development of privately-owned mineral rights in the Allegheny National Forest. On Tuesday, it will consider of the Pain Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, which would ban abortions after 20 weeks of pregnancy. The rest of the House’s work week will be focused on the GOP budget resolution that allows the reconciliation process to be used for forthcoming tax reform legislation, and potentially other legislation.

\r\n

The Senate will vote to re-confirm Ajit Pai as a member of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) on Monday. As chairman of the FCC, Pai has spearheaded a rollback of the Obama administration’s net neutrality rules. Its schedule for the rest of the week is yet to be announced.
