I say no because it isn't a deterrent when it takes 15 to 20 years to carry out the punishment so its just murder at this point. My second reason is that our criminal justice system just isn't reliable or trustworthy enough to determine life and death choices. The best deterrent is to make our jails less comfortable. Basic food, less than ideal climate control, no tv, no non-education internet and no phone privileges. Group prisoners based on crimes committed and remove the deceased as needed. All taxpayers should be responsible for is keeping inmates alive and allowing self-educating for those that have incentive through closed computer based learning systems.
