    I see no need to commemorate those people from our past who were primarily known for their active involvement in advancing ideologies to subjugate and deny basic human rights to others based on their race, religion or ethnicity. Yes, they are part of our history and their roles in history should never be forgotten- but there is absolutely no reason to commemorate them or name our honorable institutions after them. Military bases should be named after military leaders who have exemplified the protection our country and who have personally made our country stronger. There is no reason to commemorate others who have not - or those whose names are mainly known for their contributions to the more despicable chapters of our history.
