The answer is yes. The bases should be renamed. I base my answer on the fact that the confederacy declared and waged war on the United States of America. It makes no sense to honor confederates; past or present. Why then, do we give tribute to treason? Why the monuments and base naming? We don’t have monuments to honor hitler We don’t have bases named for mussolini We don’t have schools named for hirohito Why the glorification of confederate traitors? What they did was treason..... correct? If anyone today attempted what they did then, we wouldn’t honor them..... correct? Is there a plausible reason to elevate the stature of those who waged war against us? My answer.... No.
