Glow, JunnaLayn: I have had the good fortune of working with many highly educated and absolutely brilliant PhD’s. I have also worked with some of the most stupid people you could ever hope to meet who were also highly educated PhD’s. The smartest person that I ever met was a lead guitar player in a high school band that helped to lead me astray in my youth. He built a beautifully crafted and musically precise violin in his bedroom by hand and taught himself to play it, as he did the guitar. A feature piece of our band which was often requested was a complex guitar solo, Malaguena which he played. He never graduated from high school, it was not interesting enough for him. He went to Hollywood and started with a long-term contract to write theme songs for MGM productions. He later opened his own sound studio and I lost touch after that. The point is, most smarts are inherent and can be certainly be enhanced with education - but intelligence and education are not equivalent. Many highly educated people are really good at remembering lots of things but really piss-poor at putting the things they remember together to draw independent conclusions. One should never bash themselves for being less formally educated; however, anyone that chooses to not exercise their natural intellect is doing a disservice to themselves and others. … … … JunnaLayn, I agree the Glow! And Ladies, please continue to enlighten us all with your wonderfully insightful comments.
