As a white person I have not experienced racism. That does not mean I can ignore the racism (particularly anti-blackness) that’s currently rampant in the US. Looking back, we condemn white people who condoned slavery, specifically the bystanders who ignored brutality. I think the condemnation of bystanders back then is relevant today. We must continue to condemn silence because, as history shows, their silence is oppressive and inhumane.
