In a rental car leaving a small regional airport in Georgia on my way to a college friends wedding, was stopped by a cop (black also) two blocks away who said “I didn’t recognize your car”. Requested all my paperwork, never gave a cause beyond the feeble (and illegal) one he gave at the start. You would have thought I was smuggling cocaine considering the thorough going over I got. Why didn’t I say something to the cop? Because as a black person every interaction with a police officer could be the last one you have with any one.
