Generally speaking, I would say leave private companies to themselves. The problem, however, with social media, is that they have become a publication and as such they ought to be subject to laws against censorship. These organizations refuse to abide by the first amendment and freedom of speech, all the while arguably openly promoting libel. They are propaganda machines. It’s not healthy for society to be unfortunately controlled by such media. Govt therefore ought to protect the citizenry from the harm these propaganda machines cause. All they have to do is stop censoring free speech if they don’t want to be held accountable for breaking the law.
