\nHouse Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) announced Wednesday that the House will vote Thursday on a War Powers Resolution to curb potential military action by President Trump toward Iran.\n
“Last week, the Trump Administration conducted a provocative and disproportionate military airstrike targeting high-level Iranian military officials. The Administration took this action without consulting Congress,\" Pelosi said in a statement. \"This action endangered our servicemembers, diplomats and others by risking a serious escalation of tensions with Iran. Since then, the President has made clear that he does not have a coherent strategy to keep the American people safe, achieve de-escalation with Iran and ensure stability in the region.\"

“The Administration must work with the Congress to advance an immediate, effective de-escalatory strategy that prevents further violence. America and the world cannot afford war.”

\nHouse Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) has announced that her chamber will soon \"introduce and vote on a War Powers Resolution to limit\" President Donald Trump's \"military actions regarding Iran.” \n
The president has threatened to target Iranian cultural sites and to impose sanctions on Iraq after Iraqi lawmakers passed a resolution requesting the government expel U.S. troops.
Tensions between Washington and Tehran are at one of their highest points since the 1979 Iranian Revolution after a U.S. drone strike killed Iran's top general, Qasem Soleimani.
From Pelosi’s letter:

\"Last week, the Trump Administration conducted a provocative and disproportionate military airstrike targeting high-level Iranian military officials. This action endangered our service members, diplomats and others by risking a serious escalation of tensions with Iran.\"

The 1973 War Powers Act requires the president to notify Congress within 48 hours of introducing military forces into armed conflict overseas. The White House sent the classified document to Congress on Saturday.
On Saturday, Pelosi said, “[t]his classified War Powers Act notification delivered to Congress raises more questions than it answers. She added that the document \"prompts serious and urgent questions about the timing\" of the U.S. military strike.
In a statement Friday, Trump said the assassination of Soleimani was not intended to start a war:

“We took action last night to stop a war, we did not take action to start a war. I have deep respect for the Iranian people, they are a remarkable people with an incredible heritage and unlimited potential. We do not seek regime change, however the Iranian regime's aggression in the region, including the use of proxy fighters to destabilize its neighbors must end and it must end now.”
