Rep. Ro Khanna (D-Calif.) and Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) called on Friday to introduce legislation that \"blocks Pentagon funding for any unilateral actions\" taken by President Trump \"to wage war against Iran without congressional authorization.\"

The big picture: Trump claimed on Friday that the U.S. airstrike that killed top Iranian commander Qasem Soleimani was not intended to start a war. Both Democrats and Republicans — such as Sens. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) and Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) — have criticized Trump for not obtaining congressional approval for the strike.

Flashback: Iraqi Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi said earlier on Friday that he considers the strike an \"act of aggression against Iraq\" that would \"light the fuse of war.\"

I hear politicians eloquently argue for one side of an issue and later, when it’s to their benefit, just as eloquently argue for the opposite side. OK, so they are good at arguing- but what is that they actually believe? What is it that they actually stand for? An honorable person has values that persist even when it is not convenient or expedient. An honorable person has a moral compass that stops them from doing something wrong even if it is not illegal. Eliminate gerrymandering.\nExpand legal descriptions of Treason and Dereliction of Duty with members of Senate and the House of Representatives included as being subject to definitions while in office.\nMake Presidential election a National Holiday off from work and expand voting hours.\nDriving a vehicle and carrying a firearm both potentially deadly. Make them both require uniform licensing and proficiency standards.\nIncrease the Federal Supreme Court to 13 members.\nReform our prisons and judicial standards.
