Thanksgiving is a traditional holiday that goes back to the beginning of this country's founding. I like to think it was about our First People, the many Indian tribes, coming together with those who came over on the Mayflower, to share the bounty of the Earth and fellowship. I suspect that's an idealized view of what was really going on, BUT, it should not be distorted and usurped by religious zealots. It already is a holiday. It has a specific focal point. It is not a religious event. Pick another date and have your prayers for 24 hours solid, but not our Thanksgiving date.
