In the p.m., the U.S. House of Representatives hears from Laura Cooper, the deputy assistant secretary of defense, and David Hale, the undersecretary of state for political affairs.
\nEarlier in the day, the House heard from Ambassador to the E.U. Gordon Sondland.\n

Sondland

Sondland had testified that congressionally-approved military aid to Ukraine was not contingent on Kiev publicly announcing they were investigating Joe and Hunter Biden and the 2016 election. However, Sondland later revised his testimony, saying:

\"I now recall speaking individually with [Ukrainian President Zelensky’s personal aide], where I said resumption of U.S. aid would likely not occur until Ukraine provided the public anti-corruption statement that we had been discussing for many weeks.\"

\nHow it will work: House Intelligence Committee Chairman Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) and Ranking Member Devin Nunes (R-CA) will each have 45 minutes to ask questions. After this, the other lawmakers on the Intelligence Committee will be allowed to question the witnesses.
\nThe 30-second recap: On July 25, President Trump had a phone call with Ukrainian President Voldymyr Zelensky where he asked Zelensky to \"do us a favor\" and work with Attorney General William Barr and Trump's personal attorney, Rudolph Giuliani, to \"look into\" former Vice President Joe Biden and his family. (Hunter Biden was on the board of Ukrainian gas company Burisma.) Trump also asked Zelensky to investigate a debunked conspiracy theory that it was Ukraine, not Russia, that interfered in the 2016 election to benefit Hillary Clinton.

Make them both require uniform licensing and proficiency standards.\nIncrease the Federal Supreme Court to 13 members.\nReform our prisons and judicial standards. Citizen vigilance and due diligence is price we must pay to live in a thriving, functional democracy.\nI fear that our citizens are too easily swayed by politician’s pablum about “babies”, “jobs” and now, in particular, perceived “enemies”. I fear that a citizenry focused on the “here-and-now” is easily tricked by short term benefits that have negative long-term consequences. I fear that our legislators are more concerned about buffing their constituents than looking out for the long-term welfare of our country- and are way too eager to provide those short-term benefits to the “here-and-now” crowd.\nI fear that honor is generally being sacrificed/replaced by expediency. I hear politicians eloquently argue for one side of an issue and later, when it’s to their benefit, just as eloquently argue for the opposite side. OK, so they are good at arguing- but what is that they actually believe? What is it that they actually stand for? An honorable person has values that persist even when it is not convenient or expedient. An honorable person has a moral compass that stops them from doing something wrong even if it is not illegal.
