What jimK said “There are a couple of issues here. First, properties are being build in historically fire prone areas and disaster relief funds are used to re-build properties in these same areas which is incredibly cost-ineffective. Disaster relief funds should be used to support relocation to new housing in less fire prone areas. Secondly, climate change is at at point where it’s impact is accelerating which has been and will continue to shift prevailing winds, storm intensity and precipitation patterns - and will result in more wild fires in more places. The intensity of tropical depressions has been increasing with between 5 to 10 successive new records being set in the last 2 years (sorry, I lost count). Buckle up folks, it will get worse before it gets better.”
