Health care providers have an ethical obligation to cover all the options that are legally available to women seeking guidance with a crisis pregnancy. That, unfortunately, includes abortion. As a health care provider myself, I have found myself in those situations, despite my personal feelings that abortion is not the best option in most cases. However, it is not my decision---the decision, like any other health-related decision, ultimately rests with the person seeking care. A government-imposed gag rule that limits what health care providers can share with patients based on someone else's moral sensitivities, is abhorrent. Planned Parenthood is to be applauded for its insistence that care not be compromised.
