The principal criteria in hiring should be competence in performing the duties required by the position. None of the other stuff, religion, martial status, sexual preference, et al., has nothing to do with ones ability to perform job functions. I have long been a proponent that we have sufficient laws and regulations on the books to protect an individual’s rights and freedoms. Those statutes need to be put into force. No need to add additional paper to the list.
