the essential services are going up so how do we pay for those? In the old days ther could be no price increases unless they were applied for and granted. Now just go ahead and do it!

Social Security increases for seniors has been denied for 3 years, yet major corporatons are granted price increases for cost of living increases. Seniors can't pay their bill with rising costs!

this past year was a little increase but sure didn't match what the welfare recipients rec. while the 2 years we had no increase. I know a girl that has 2 kids 9 days a month and the welfare gives her reduced rent, and medical, and 600 a month food stamp . while the father who has the kids all the time works 77 hours a week and more because he still has to pay her 50.00 a week . with no assistance any where and hes feeding 6 people every day except for the 9 days a month she has them. but...

They don't call it food stamps anymore, it is SNAP. It is hard to qualify for that but this program is a Federal Program administered by the states and the welfare programs are not the same in each state so how one qualifies for these programs is different in every state across the nation. Social Security is NOT a welfare program at all. In California it is pretty strict and you do have to provide a lot of personal information. Those that collect here are very poor and needy. Social Security is NOT a welfare program at all. In California it is pretty strict and you do have to provide a lot of personal information. Those that collect here are very poor and needy. If you are on SSI in California (not to be confused with the retirement fund) you cannot qualify for SNAP at all. The government in the state made that illegal since there is supposedly a food allowance in that program. Other states it is different. So blanket remarks about welfare or any other national program is not always factual.

We did get a cost of living increase this last January. But not enough to make a difference...No way can I live on my Social Security and I've paid in all my adult life. I still work, which is ok, but it would be nice to actually enjoy these later years. Maybe if the government paid back what they have taken from Social Security, we COULD get a raise.

$26.00 INCREASE, STILL DOESN'T HELP WITH THE BILLS, FOOD, MEDICINE, ETC.

In cases like that welfare should be cut they need to get better at deciding who is eligible. I always worked all I could get to keep food and roof for my children, so they wouldnn't ever want to suck the system. Those people repuls me the guidellines need to be changed. That in itself would save government so much $$$$$$ Don't get me wrong if folks need a hand up or are incapable of working I am fine with it all but if they can.......

Geraldine Yielding... How does he see them all the time if he works 77 hours a week, he doesn't even see them if he works that much. How does she eat 600 dollars a month in food? Oh so he has two other kids. Nice...well she is raking in the money that other really honest people could use.

we are all going to be old one day so don't we deserve to be treated right and get the right money and help to enjoy our later years, after all we would have spent many years looking after others and working hard.
