In Feb. 2006, an unpredicted major 20 inch snow storm hit the Phila area starting at 10:00 AM. By noon all businesses and schools let out, but with all the people and buses on the roads, the plows couldn't clean them. The 20 miles of the Blue Route took 6 hours to travel. After 2 hours of sitting, there was the famous blue TastyKake truck about 20 vehicles ahead of me. All of sudden the driver got out with TastyKake trays and starting giving away everything in the truck for free. That...

All of sudden the driver got out with TastyKake trays and starting giving away everything in the truck for free. That driver walked miles going car to car in a blizzard to bring each person some food and happiness. I will never forget it. Later I learned that the driver called and asked permission, the boss said do it. What a fantastic company.

This is sad. Dale Knob sent me an assortment of these cakes and they were all awesome. You cannot get them here in Ohio.

Tastykake was an institution in the neighborhood I grew up in. It was a place that provided both full and part-time jobs for it as well. Besides Krimpets were the best after school snack and lunchtime treat ever.

I used to live near the old Tastykake factory. Every morning. I'd go to work with the great smell of Tastykakes being made. Wow!!! What memories. I almost agree with you totally, however, for me there was nothing better than the chocolalate cupcakes. They were soooo good, they'd make your tastebuds tapdance.

I grew up on Butterscotch krimpets and lemon pies! I still love them and brings warm and precious memories of my childhood in Philadlephia, PA. Don't let them go down! Baltimore has Berger Cookies and Philly has Tastykakes!
