There has never been a time our military and veterans have not had my full support and pride, though I have not always agreed with the government as a cause to go to war. I have felt regret for over 40 years that many of our Vietnam Veterans felt they did not have the support of many Americans. That has never been true. Vietnam War Veterans have always been true American Heroes. They always will be. They were never forgotten.

Unfortunately, it is not true that veterans have been supported by their countrymen. The homeless vets who were begging for change at freeway exits and sleeping in shelters at night are proof of that. Many are now dead, years before their time, and they will never get to tell their stories.

The Government has not cared for war veterans in any way it should, still does not, and I agree, the citizens have done far too little to do anything about this failure of the government.

Thanks for all the families of the deceased!
Thanks for all the former American soldiers who participated in the war on VN years of hardship, each pour, sweat, tears and blood, bone of our country!
And only two words would bring true freedom for VN!.

My belief is that too many of these brave warriors, suffered a war far greater upon returning home from Vietnam, than when they actually served there! Only those who served during the Vietnam War, will know of the disgraceful lies and betrayals that this nation set forth, when teenagers as I see them, were drafted against their will, and sprayed with chemicals called Agent Orange, that was neither regulated by the EPA, the DOD, the CDC, or the US, but instead mixed in barrels in Vietnam,...

Only those who served during the Vietnam War, will know of the disgraceful lies and betrayals that this nation set forth, when teenagers as I see them, were drafted against their will, and sprayed with chemicals called Agent Orange, that was neither regulated by the EPA, the DOD, the CDC, or the US, but instead mixed in barrels in Vietnam, and then used to clear brush to make paths for our soldiers to patrol through! These kids as I call them, were barely out of high school, when they were sent against their will, with not only inadequate training, but also to fight an enemy that was profoundly underestimated in size and strength! Then sadly to return home to an ungrateful nation, who called them baby killers, spat on them, thew bottles at them, etc! We owe them more than a National Holiday..But that will do for starters!

Very well said Spirit Painter. It always bothered me that the Vietnam Vets were treated with respect or anything like that. I was one of them, sad to say. I am sorry for thinking like that. I pray and hope they get the respect and honor that they have coming to them.

I am glad to know that Viet Nam vets will finally be honored. Eventhough, my husband is no longer with us, I am sure that he will appreciate this generous gesture of honor.

And it is a crying shame that the Vietnam Vets were not honored. Even though it was a war we shouldn't have been in in the first place. I will still say thank you for the sacrifice, sorry for the way we treated you back then. You didn't deserve it.
