When India already has a rich variety of bananas that can feed millions of people that are grown naturally, why the need for genetically altered bananas?....Naturally grown bananas have evolved over millions of years but genetically altered species can have effects on future generations for millions of years beyond human control! "Strike while the iron is hot" i.e. need for "Prevention is better than cure" is felt.

Dried plant leaves, branches, twigs, stems , roots etc and fruits can be made into powder and the nutrients like calcium, vitamins, protein, carbohydrates and fats can be separated intelligently using a machine and combined intelligently with a machine using software with the different parts of the other plants like leaves , branches, twigs, stems , roots etc to make useful foods like Horlicks and leaf flakes like Kellogs Corn Flakes. They can even be made into biscuits and other food like cereals. Nearly 3/4 th of the surface of earth is water. So marine plants can also provide sufficient food for all creatures on earth and also for water creatures. The only thing that we need to do is convert the food gathered from plants into a form eatable by them. For example soyabeans can be used to form meat balls that can be used by humans and also fed to some wild animals as they taste just like meat.

Instead of genetically modifying a particular fruit or vegetable, where the results are unpredictable and dangerous we should try to combine fruits with other eatables ..For example the concept of Fruit salads and Fruit juices are popular so we can think of a combination of Fruits and vegetables and green leaves like spinach and call it a Fruit-Vegetable salad or Fruit-Vegetable Health Drink.

Banana is poor man's fruit in India and when we have so many time-tested indigenous varieties of bananas, we don't want to run the risk of being at the mercy of some unscrupulous multinational totally controlling the seeds etc. of GM banana!

They are playing with India,s basic profession of agriculture, lands are being given to corporate s in the name of development & basic asset of agriculture is being ruined by policy & poli-trics, now they want to attack & bring the agriculture to dooms. Genetic, what genetic, what we are producing is without genesis, Genetic crops should be banned for saving our own centuries old practice of growing & cultivation. Save India by shoeing off genetic crops fundamentals.
