The best way to prevent cancer in pets is to stop overvaccinating. As someone who rescued 751 dogs, I have the "data" to back up my statement. Pets benefit from minimal vaccinating. Considering that I haven't been able to raise even $1 to help 3 horses that were starved, having millions of dollars go for "preventing" pet cancer when it is already very preventable is frustrating in the extreme. Why is it that people will donate for research but not donate to help living beings that are already suffering and need help?

Again, if you want your pets to lead long, healthy lives, minimal vaccinations are the key. There are a number of enlightened veterinarians who have stated this. I have spoken to literally thousands of dog owners over the years, and with 1 exception, all the dogs who died of cancer age 12 or younger were vaccinated yearly. Rabies vaccines are required by law, but the other vaccines are not. Puppy immunity is generally good for life. Vets are making a lot of money vaccinating and then...

Vets are making a lot of money vaccinating and then treating dogs for auto-immune diseases, seizures and cancer, all of which are caused by vaccines.

Good for you! One woman I spoke with said her Chihuahua lived to 23 yrs. When I asked how often the Chihuahua was vaccinated, she sheepishly admitted, "Honey, she never saw a vet after she was 3 years old." Friends who stopped vaccinating were amazed to see how their dogs and cats health improved. One friend had a small dog with seizures that started when she was 3 years old (again, from vaccines). She stopped vaccinating, started Milk Thistle for the dog's liver, and the dog lived to 20 yrs old.

None of my dogs are over vaccinated - they only get the minimal vaccinations needed when and if they are boarded, and yet we lost 2 to cancer. Probably a 3d who had a bleeding disorder....so this doesnt stand up any better than the immunization.autism links

Danielle, Vaccinating at all after your dog is 5 months old is overvaccinating. The only vaccine I give after that time is the rabies vaccine as required by law. I have a number of dogs here who have a "Letter of Exemption" for the rabies vaccines because of seizures, liver damage or auto-immune diseases caused by vaccines. Dr. Robert Schultz does not vaccinate his dogs after puppyhood and one of his goldens lived to be 15. Every case of nasal cancer that I know of in dogs were in dogs...

Every case of nasal cancer that I know of in dogs were in dogs that received intranasal vaccines for kennel cough. My dogs do not get any distemper/parvo vaccines after 1 vaccine during puppyhood. The Lyme, Giardia and Lepto vaccines are extremely harmful. The lepto vaccine should never be given to puppies or dogs under 20 lbs due to "adverse and fatal reactions", yet vets routinely give it to these very puppies and dogs. Vaccinating yearly is the kiss of death for many dogs, but vaccinating every three years has also caused many fatalities.

ALL THESE AND MORE CAN CONTRIBUTE TO ANIMAL/PET CANCERS:Toxins in their environment (including human nicotine smoke), unhealthy fats (human or pet food), water from plastic bottles (bleached out), chemicals (like lawn chemicals, antifreeze, pool chemicals, etc), eating rubber balls, contamination from: some pet toys, rawhide chews, affects from pet or human medications and/or vitamins ingested accidentally, some flea, tick and dewormer products.

Thank you Carol. This is a good addition to some cancer causes. What goes into their bodies either orally, or injected needs to be closely scrutinized. As their care providers, we need to learn more of what really is toxic to them. Trusting anything or anyone else is risking their health, happiness and very life.

Your very welcome and of course your right. Their health is our responsibility. We can do research and careful reading of their food, treat and other ingredients.

There are people that don't smoke, drink, etc & get cancer. It is the same for animals. It is cells in the body that go haywire.

Elizabeth, my theory is that when they live with humans they eat the food which is not suitable for them. I remember when I was a child and we fed animals with the food we were eating (organic, with no additives) they were healthy, as soon as my father started buying cat and dog food they started being less healthy and living shorter lives

I lost my boxer buddy to cancer. The vet said treatment had less than a 50% chance to save him, so I opted to have him euthanized. No pet owner should have to make that choice.

Jarasel, eventually, we all have to make that terrible decision about quality of life. I've been there numous times. I'm so sorry for your loss and I know your pain.

Be mindful of the food you feed your Pets. My dogs only get the best and have been free from disease. I'm positive food has been a major contributor in causing cancer in both humans and our loving pets.

We have an old family cat and his name is Harry. He has cancer in his eye and we have tried to have it removed but it mysteriously came back. We give him lots of love and we bring him inside every night so we can always keep an eye on him. I wish that animals didn't have cancer because it's already bad enough humans have it. I wouldn't want any animal to go through with having cancer and not getting any help. So please watch this video! <3
