Eastern Region Gliding School made me become a better Canadian citizen.
With no pretention intended, and professionnally speaking, i navigated through aviation since 1976 and always felt that i was one step ahead of many people in major part because of my participation to this program.
Now that i am two years away from retirement from aviation, i can only wish that some young aviation inspired fellows will train to take my place in the business.
The Air Cadet Gliding Program must survive
Wishing you all the best.
This is a great thing for our young people in our community, hope it lasts.
Keep up the good work. Air Cadets is great for young people.
some one should ask Commander Hadfield what he would think, he was accomplished glider. See where the program helped get him!!!!!!
I have worked hard as an air cadet to get a glider pilot scholarship, but now because of this, its possible I wont be able to take my cadets up to experience the thrill of an amazing glider flight.....the main reason I wanted this so bad was to teach and show cadets why flight is amazing and why they should pursue a career in aviation. What's an air cadet when you take away the air component? A group of hopeful youth with shattered dreams.
I feel exactly the same way :(
573 Andrew Mynarski VC RCACS is giving their full support to this :)
As an 825 RCACS ex-member, I 100% agree with this statement
The gliding program has been of profound influence within our Hadfield family. Count 4 who went on to become pilots, and 1 who took his training all the way to space. My daughter has been counting the days until she is old enough to join Air Cadets. Without the glider program, Cadets would not be the same. How do I tell her that this wonderful opportunity has been closed to her?
Pat, don't let it become history! Write your, MP's write the Air Cadet League and tell them what you think.
I am currently in air cadet, i am in my fourth year. I have been to two squadrons and have seen the benefit of this program in both. So many people love the gliders so much they go for thier license! Afterall ismt that what 'Air' Cadets is!
This is my first year being an air cadet and I've only experience this wonderful program only once and I want my little cousins to experience this program when they grow up.... so if the government decides to shut this down...... it'll be so sad.....
I spent seven years as an Air Cadet and even though I never got my flying license I still believe it is a huge part of the program. To see this program I feel would not bring in as many kids into the program as it is a main focus. Please reconsider before you get rid of this wonderful program.

Mes trois garcon ont été beaucoup actif al escadron 729 Salaberry de Valleyfield et ont par la meme ocasion beaucoup aprécié faire du planeur.Je croit q un cadet de l air sen planeur ca n a pas de cence.
I was an Air Cadet and achieved the rank of SGT. While there, one of my favorite moments was being able to go on glider familiarization flights. If i was still in Air Cadets I would have definitely attempted to achieve both licenses. The ACGP is a tremendous influence on the lives of so many young people and I as a former Air Cadet would hate to see it removed. Please, Do Not Take The "Air" Out Of "Air Cadets"!
I was also in my seventh year and always tried to get on the list for glider familiarization flights every year
I have been asked to sign this petition, and I wouldn't have any problem doing that if I could find somewhere, either here or anywhere on the web where this is in fact "fact". Can someone put the link to the news story on here for reading? Thanks.
I attended to Mr. Colin Moore when I worked at the retirement residence where he lives. He is the founder of this program, and was very proud of his accomplishment and his continued involvement in the program over the years. It would be a shame to deny future cadets the experience that he fought so hard to provide for them. I know that it would break his heart if he knew that cancelling it was even a possibility. I hope the decision will be reconsidered.
