Wolves are beautiful animals, I have personal been around them. They are actual quite shy around humans. Wolves should be on the endangered species list and remain on it!

I would need to research this further. Are the baseline population of the wolves being reduced, or are these numbers from controlled hunts to maintain healthy, balanced cycles of life?

I remember in Florida they banned deer hunting in the Everglades for a while, and the animal rights activist side was celebrating their great triumph with warm and fuzzyness.... until drought hit the region whose wild deer population had exploded, resulting in an over population of alligators... the State...

I remember in Florida they banned deer hunting in the Everglades for a while, and the animal rights activist side was celebrating their great triumph with warm and fuzzyness.... until drought hit the region whose wild deer population had exploded, resulting in an over population of alligators... the State wound up HIRING HUNTERS to go in and cull the population...

rather than letting hunters pay them to control the herd population.

I'm as against animal cruelty as the next compassionate person, but I realize that no matter how warm and fuzzy it makes me feel to save a wolf, warm and fuzzy feelings do not feed wolves. They eat meat. And when they cannot get wild game, or if domestic stock presents itself readily ... there will be problems.

I will have to read more on this issue before I can endorse

Samuel, the Fish and Wildlife Service delisted wolves in many states, especially the northern Rockies. The Federal Government turned over the "management" of wolves to these states, which have failed miserably by immediately creating wolf hunts, the first time since they were put on the Endangered Species List. These states have not considered scientific evidence that wolves contribute to and are part of the eco-system. Without wolves, the eco-system is unbalanced, and who will eventually suffer? Humans! I hope you will do some research on this issue because wolves are now caught in a political tug of war based on greed. And, to make matters worse, the LA Times on 4/19/2013 reported that the FWS is poised and ready to delist ALL wolves. This decision is not based on scientific evidence, and wolves account for less than .010% of cattle predation. But, big business in this country wins at the cost of whatever stands in their way to make money. The are the ones who support the Congressmen and Congresswomen...and who are these Congresspeople going to side with? Big business. The wolves are pawns in this terrible game of chess. And, Defenders of Wildlife has learned the entire Endangered Species Act is at risk. the government wants to discard it, along with all of the protected wildlife, which, if this happens, will be gone forever, and future generations will never have the wonder of seeing these fantastic creatures who all are part of our fragile eco-system. samuel you definately need to do more research with your postings. the wolves are being hunted becasue they are very intellignet and a prize for hunters. Hunters use bait to lure them out of state parks. one hunter used a dead horse dragged it through a national park and killed a pregnant alpha female when she came out to investigate. the solution is not to kill them but to manage them in a safe maner. many states want the wolf reintroduced because they naturally keep deer and elk populations down. wake up man and read a little more

Mike an Carole you both nailed it!!!! Our president delisted them for political gain its sickening!!! Alpha 06 one of the strongest passionate female was the first to bd slaughtered. Wearing her 5,000 dollar research collar as she was lured over the border to sound of distressed pups!!! Than one shot dead!!! Which has caused ultimate turmoil in the Lamar pack!! This female could take down a 1,000 lb elk by herself!!
Packs are social loving an orderly creatures ! Now we pups out there that...

They hunted for pelts. They've done nothing wrong other than being born under a species of scrutiny an predudice !!!!
They need strict management. Snares poisoning an traps need to be banned forever . That's not hunting that's a cowardly act of murder an barbarism tortuous killing!!!!
Our children need them we need them!!! It's proven scientific fact!!!!!
Write write write!!!!!!!!!!

They culled 1100 over a 4 yr period. Or, 275 per year.

I am not an animal hugger so "argument" based on passion is pointless.

In my research I found no scientifically based arguments against population control.

I am very much with you on trapping and poisoning. That is ... Unacceptable.

Nature and Evolution sorts out natural selection and survival, humans just interfere with nature...by hunting, over farming etc selfishly and stupidly, Then the the only place certain species can live is in a reserve-how would the hunters like to live in a reserve, to keep evryone else safe from them?!.Blood sports and Cruelty to animals is just bullying something defenceless to make the hunter feel big and in control and is linked to abuse of children as well.but nature has a way of...

Soon the world will be a very uncomfortable place for humans, and then we will all have to live in a "reserve" .

Julie, here in the wood, when we hunt, we eat what we shoot. Very few hunters are into hunting to "bully something defenseless".

That's preposterous to make that claim.

Hunting is the natural function of a predator.

Prey animals become overpopulated without hunters.

Like your veggies?

Thank a hunter.

What purpose does it serve to slaughter these animals. It is senseless.

population control would be a good reason. Without hunters, there would be no corn, the deer population would explode. Here in TN the deer population is so large that hunters are allowed to "take a doe" every day of the hunting year if they so choose.

When I grew up in Florida, does were not to be shot, except on one day of the year, and then only one. This is how the wild animal population is maintained in balance, now that WE have screwed up the ecosystem, we must control the...

Florida for example, has almost no cougars in the wild anymore, nor wolves. There are only alligators left as a natural predator for them.

These wolves are restricted to a confined area, which contains only X number of prey animals, and room for X packs of wolves... once this population is reached, the wolves spill out into the suburbs....

I'm interested enough to research it. Are you?

ANY and ALL ANIMALS THAT ARE HUNTED, OR TRAPPED MUST BE EATEN BY THOSE THAT FEEL THEY NEED CONTROLLED. OTHERWISE THOSE INDIVIDUALS ARE NOT TRUE HUNTERS. THEY ARE POACHERS. AND MY FAMILY HUNG POACHERS! LEGALLY!

KICKING YOUR @$$ WOULD BE A PLEASURE! {---- My message to the useless and pathetic piece o' trash/pile o' monkey crap admin of that "Kill ALL the wolves" page on FB! As harsh and vindictive as my statement may sound, can guarantee ya that I'm not the only one who feels that way. Oh, and don't even think about getting me started on lawmakers who are trying to force our wolves into extinction!

Wolves are hunted and killed because man fears them. It's an innate fear in us, because we fear death. But wolves have their part in nature and in the ecosystem. They don't hunt and kill for sport like humans do, they don't take pleasure in bringing down prey. They hunt to survive, and the way they do it is by weeding out the weakest animal from the herd. This animal can also be a sick animal, either diseased or by some birthdefect. In other words, the wolf acutally does the herd a favour by...

They don't hunt and kill for sport like humans do, they don't take pleasure in bringing down prey. They hunt to survive, and the way they do it is by weeding out the weakest animal from the herd. This animal can also be a sick animal, either diseased or by some birthdefect. In other words, the wolf acutally does the herd a favour by only letting the strongest and fittest survive, and if any genetic defect/disease was what caused an animal to be sick and hunted down by a wolf, then it's an insurance that future offspring won't have the same disease. In effect making the herd healthier by excluding diseased individuals.
On top of that, wolves are amazing animals, the way they sing, the order they have in the pack, the care they have for their young. And they are serial monogamous.

The herder doesn't care about at what you are sayng, he wants money and also a less strong animal brings money . There is no more knowledge and acceptance of nature's positive laws, now is money the boss and money wants the wolfs to be dead.

Wolves play an important part in their environment and are necessary to preserve the integrity of their habitat because when they're gone and something else takes their place it causes damage that doesn't have to happen. All species have the right to survival even when they are not human

I may be inconvenient to live with wolves if you are a rancher, but we have no right to let our inconvenience trump a species right to survive.
