I am as a Chinese do not fancy or find anything good about shark fin soup. Hate to see those pictures of sharks that have fins cut off. In addition to sharks, eating turtles and dogs are also crazy and should be ban.

Shark fin is a very popular and considered to be expensive food in Hong Kong & China. But as soon as I learned how they abandon the shark after cutting their fin, I feel so sick to have the shark fin soup. I won't take it and won't let my family ordering it in any eating out occasions. It works and now most restaurants in Hong Kong are not selling shark fin soup. I'm glad the society is changing since the awareness has been brought up

That's right Yoly. People need to be aware of the process of their food before it ends up on their plate. This to me is very important.

have you gone out with a fishing boat to see them cut off the fin and throw the shark back in to drown? no? then have you been to australia to have fish and chips? cuz the fish fillet in fish and chips in australia uses shark meat. so no matter what, whether you have fins for dinner or not, sharks are still dying. be more aware of the underlying problem of society, earning money riding on their whims and facies of "donating to stop finning".

There was a time when I didn't care about sharks. Didn't like them either. But that all changed years ago when I watched this documentary on sharks and there was actual footage of a man cutting its fins and throwing the shark back in the ocean..leaving the shark to bleed to death. That was enough to make me start to care about them.

How did you get a shot of a shark on the beach finned? They sink like rocks after. Even if they drift on the beach, not on that angle and not that good a condition, Whale Sharks aren't likely either to be finned, too hard, fining is done by the lazier types. Quick score idiots. That photo is a set up though, some sick human being may have finned it rather than putting the beached Whale Shark back in the water, that's pretty cruel too, since we are making assumptions of all shark fishing, why not this?

Gölök Zoltán Leenderdt Buday

As horrible this is some people do fish a whole shark, should they sell the other parts and leave the fins on the boat? It's a customs matter, they should punish people who have more fins than shark bodies. I agree that fining is cruel, but no one should assume that all fins comes from fining. It takes a proper inspection. Some people eat shark meat too that isn't fin related. The tradition argument is weak, the presumptions of fining in all cases are weaker.

It's the elitist assholes who eat "shark fin soup" that's the real problem. Lose the demand, no need to supply.
