I come from an army background - father and brothers were soldiers - and they survived - they were lucky....but all soldiers should be remembered on 11.11 for what they have done for our country.

My father fought in the most atrocious and dangerous conditions in Burma for 5 years in w.w.2. He was not conscripted - he volunteered, because he knew that if he and hundreds of thousands of others hadn't been prepared to make the ultimate sacrifice if necessary, these islands would have been invaded and we would have lost the freedom which is so taken for granted by so many now. That British spirit is still present in the brave young men of our current armed forces as they fight to...

I live in France, here 11th November is a public holiday every year. My Grandparents lost 2 sons in the first world war & a Grandson in the second.My dad lost his father in the first world war.
