Speaking as an OAP who worked all my life. Sometimes 2 jobs, the family are rich enough to pay for her funeral. Because I paid into a second pension I,m paying tax. This makes me so angry that my money is being used this way. Her cronies i.e. Cameron, Osborne, Johnstone, etc are targeting disabled people cutting their payments by saying theres no cash and then they use taxpayers well earned cash for a funeral is despicable.

totally agree! i a mum of 2 special needs, like people also in th same boat, is getting cuts and less money to live on , with the cost of fuel, food and esentials to make ends meet! my husband worked for a company over 20yrs, made redundant and its difficult to have a job and have children to care for ! we would both be happy to work! you find me a wand and ilkl work miricals!

This is so wrong when there are many homeless people and animals. Many people are starving to death, why spend so much on a woman whose passed away, this is so wrong. This money should have been spent on so many millions living, who need help. The top priority should be showing compassion to the those who need help urgently.

A funeral of a loved one is a very private affair. The family must have been so disappointed that the funeral was taken over by the Tory publicity wagon! I am angry that I was forced to pay for a publicly funded funeral for an individual who could well afford to pay for her own funeral! We are told that the UK has no money? Although there are always funds for a Tory event such as this feeble show of glorification of the Thatcher days - this government should be ashamed of themselves. ...

I did not agree to my taxes being used in this way. I hope this will rally those who didn't vote in the last elections to take notice and vote in the next elections to show their feelings about what this government is doing. The ex prime minister was not revered by enough people to warrant the country paying for this funeral, nor for the BBC cost of the funeral television coverage.

when my husband passed away after working years for this country, the funeral he had was the best myself and family could give him,but did it cost millions,of course not why should the tax payer pay this silly money let the family pay for a funeral they could afford.

It is morally wrong that the public purse should be footing the bill for the funeral. Given the wealth of their family, they or perhaps the conservative party should be footing the bill.

Don't agree. M.T sorted this country out ,i hate to think of the mess we would be in without her. The country was was run by the unions, neither labor or conservative knew what to do about them, that is till M.T. This country needed her and she stood strong and saved the country against the unions hope of having a socially run country. I lived through those times, as a labour voter at the time i switched in the hope M.T. in the hope she could do what she promised to do, that is to sort the unions out, and she did. As for the money, M.T. save this country millions in the rebate she fought to get back from EU, which we are still getting. Not as much of course since Tony Blair give back millions to the EU, all of it taxpayers money . Margaret Thatcher was a great lady, and if you really wish to know what life was like to live in those times, such UK history. You could start by finding out how many times Arthur Scargill head of the miners union visited Russia, returning to praise to high heaven how wonderful the communist state was and how happy the people there were, then calling for the miners to strike again. I really believe Arthur wanted the best for this country, but that was as part the the communist bloc. But i believe history has proved him wrong.

Its disgraceful that money was spent this way when people are struggling to make ends meet. Politicians should be made to pay for their own funerals just like the rest of us. It doesn't matter who they are.

its sick that a woman who is still hated by many had money that belongs to the people of this country, people don't go to work to support the likes of such people, they work for their own, what is wrong with these bastards who have been given power by people that live in such disillusion, i'm sad to say I voted these bastards in, it's wrong, I've learnt my lesson, I can't wait for karma to step in, many being made homeless, the disabled being made to suffer more on top of what they suffer,...

Millions of people have simply worked their boolocks off to pay for her funeral when many of us struggle when it comes to paying for our relatives funerals. Who helps us then? It's absolutly disgusting that this amount of money was spent on one woman for one day and obviously her own relatives have'nt forked out a penny. We've got homeless people out on our London streets, children dying in hospitals but as usual the Goverment throw away tax payers money as they please. Their should be a...

Outrageous waste of tax payers money. She was only PM after all and not exactly a popular one. Do they plan to bury all the PMs this way? I don't think so. Especially at this time when all we hear is there is no money for absolute basics for those people on the breadline. SHAME ON YOU.

That is disgusting, when the government say they don't have money for the NHS or the Disabled, why should the tax payers pay for her funeral, when the government do nothing for the the tax payer.!!!
