If nurses in the public hospital can not get safe nursing practices (pt ratios) then Aged Care will NEVER get it. At present the sector would like to replace the RN's with Cert 4's. That is NO RN's running the floors. How safe is that!!!!!! Unbelievable!!
I think nurse patient ratios are extremely important because they determine the amount of time you get to spend with each patient and greatly influence the safety of both the patient and the nurse...as nurses, we want the best for our patients, but, unfortunately, we can only be in one place at a time....if the ratio is too high, it's impossible to give quality care.
Unsafe ratios mean compromised care and very tired nurses.
Nurses at Toronto Western General are great they really assist me in all my needs and report to the Doctor whenever slight pain bothers me.
well idk, all the nurses no me Toronto East General Hospital no me by name and if it wernt for those nurses I would've never bin seen by a doc.
because I am a nurse and it is so bloody hard for patients and nurses.
People wouldn't be in the hospital if they didn't need professional care. when the ratio of nurses to patients is so high, patients might see their nurse once or twice a day. This is important for the safety of the patient and working conditions for the nurses.
Reducing care staffing levels is an easy way to lower costs, at the risk of endangering staff and patients! Stop it, NOW!
Because in our area where level 2 care is provided, the ratio is 1:4 w/c is so unsafe yet the management is not doing anything about it. What pro-active ways can be done to change this is what I want to know before any SUIs to occur.
Because I have friends who are nurses and they deserve all the support they can muster.
