I support this cause because I believe that it is essential that all children receive a well-balanced education that includes science, mathematics, history, geography, technical studies, life survival skills, human rights and social and environmental responsibility and the arts. The arts (art, drama and music) help young people to communicate to others as well as appreciate culture.

The "arts" involve all the core content and skills, math, reading, writing, thinking skills and communications. It is application of these skills that benefit the student throughout life.

As a singer, choral conductor and school music teacher, I have experienced the great pleasure and satisfaction of performing, teaching young people to perform and watching those young people grow into fine artists and teachers themselves. Such opportunities must be available to all.

as an artist it's absolutely essential the have the arts in our public schools.I was shocked recently to find that our local P12 doesn't even have an art room due to funding cuts.
