Emma Dorahy posted "The arts are just as important as any other key learning area." I propose that the arts are key to learning in ANY area.
In my view, the arts make people better human beings. They connect cultures in a meaningful way. They promote critical thinking. The arts teach students how to literally 'think outside the box' thus encouraging greater overall creativity.
Fostering arts based program's in schools engages directly with the humanity , imagination and self esteem in students. The Arts define the soul of the broader community. Starve them and we are all diminished
To develop a world community of whole brained thinkers who can expand the concept of creativity and individuality in all walks of life in a world of narrow minded commercially driven authoritarian bean counters who seldom demonstrate the ability to relax and interact pleasantly socially.
The Arts are as important as oxygen to your lives!
When there is no one around you to play art with you as a little child... it is good someone does at school, so that the child can realise that art is an other way to express oneself and a other form of cleverness / intelligence and sensitivity. <3 :)
Art is an intergral way for children to express themselves at an early age.
I think all children can learn a lot about themselves through the arts. and learn how to express themselves through arts.
It just feels right, it has the power to change how I feel, but can change lives and our world too. With e, I cant dismiss it from my life.. It finds me and pulls me back in on the right path. My daughter is full of life and possibilties when she sings, makes music with her Sax, or Kapa Haka maori culture. KiaKaha Koutou Katoa - Be Strong Everyone.
I loved it when the music teacher rolled the piano into ourclassrooms in grade school. I honestly cant imagine a well rounded education without music, Art and plays.
