You can't adopt a dog from a shelter without a process of being checked out. How could this happen?

The dog was sent to her for training after getting references. Unfortunately there are those that are good at fooling people. Bones case is the one that had brought her lies and deception to the surface because of the people that didn't give up searching for him when she lied about him being stolen. It appears Bones is not the first victim, this is going to be ugly :-( This monster was suppose to be a trusted member of the rescue/training community. Even with reference and vet checks and...

Even with reference and vet checks and home visits, there's always a level of trust when you hand a pet over. Makes us all extremely hesitant to trust anyone again. I could strangle this woman with my bare hands.

I get terribly disturbed with all the animal abuse going on and it seems to never ever get better.... PLEASE sign and send this petition to all your Facebook friends. This person needs to be arrested!!!

Wendy M Peterson Notary

Why haven't she been investigated and arrested, if she is doing this?

Thank you for taking the time... This one is just unfathomable as it was someone that was trusted in the rescue/training community. She fooled many. Evil b*tch needs to be in jail.

Here's an update from tonight. The resumed digging and found more. And she's still denying that they found Bones, even with the microchip confirmation. This is the exact reason we need much much harsher penalties. There isn't enough jail time for this. http://www.northwestohio.com/news/story.aspx?id=954084#.UkzQbrxzU7B

Surely rescue homes should be subjected to strict inspections with paperwork kept showing vet reports etc!

She was given Bones for training. She fooled alot of people into believing she was a trusted member of the animal rescue community. There were reference checks on her first, -nd updates given with pictures. The Bones case is what has brought all of her abuse to light. She claimed Bones was stolen in January, and expected it to be dropped, but it prompted hundreds of people (who were following the Bones case prior to going to "training") to start a manhunt for him. His death was...

His death was confirmed once they dug him up in her yard and checked the microchip. There were several other remains found with suspicions of starvation and one with a bullet hole.

There is always some level of trust that the animals are truly being cared for and this type of case makes you extremely hesitant to trust anyone even with references. It is absolutely frightening.

I will sign the petition but I think it odd for someone to offer aid, care, and assistance for these animals only to later abuse and or starve them as this says happened. Signs of starvation in a necropsy only shows that the animal had signs of malnutrition. It does NOT tell when this took place in the animals short life does it? Such abuse could have been the result of the abuse the animal was taken out of before Kathy took charge of Smokey. Just saying the story sounds like a knee jerk...

Just saying the story sounds like a knee jerk response with little evidence against someone who was known as an animal care giver. And animals do die and get buried!

This is absolutely not a knee jerk response. Read the entire story of Bones. There are facts and Bones' history before arriving there was know . Besides the links contained in this petition, you can educate yourself on Bones Battle Facebook page. He was a large dog weighing over 100 lbs, necropsy shows he was about 50 when he died. It is confirmed he died of starvation. Other dogs remains have been discovered, one with a gunshot to the head. Little is known on those at the moment since the...

There were hundreds searching for him since January after the monster said 'he was stolen'. The extent of her abuse has only just come to light beause of the desperate search for Bones. She murdered him. And possibly others.

I really would like to hear the other side of this. Is it possible the animals died of untreatable disease/natural causes? Cancer and other diseases can give the appearance of starvation. Those of us who rescue know that losing animals is the toughest part of what we do. I have some "hospice" kitties right now. But I do agree - Kathy needs to speak and present her side!
