This is important to anyone who loves dogs - living in Greece for many years I have rescued more than I know - I currently have 4 dogs and the stray dogs of greece become the best loving dogs you will ever have - having said that there is still a lot of work to do - but trust me there is a lot of people working behind the scenes to help and much of there work goes un- noticed because we see the odd photo here and there - I have seen boycott Greek tourism etc - this is not the answer as many...
This is important to anyone who loves dogs - living in Greece for many years I have rescued more than I know - I currently have 4 dogs and the stray dogs of greece become the best loving dogs you will ever have - having said that there is still a lot of work to do - but trust me there is a lot of people working behind the scenes to help and much of there work goes un- noticed because we see the odd photo here and there - I have seen boycott Greek tourism etc - this is not the answer as many helpers are not greek - Greeks are waking up to the fact they have to do something and education is helping more and more Greeks especially the younger generations are starting to appreciate dogs and understand the friendship between dog and man - what we really need in Greece is the government to get involved and neuter the stray dogs so we can get the numbers down -i have been doing this myself for years - this is the way forward - we also need some government sponsored rescue centers like we have in the uk for example. Greece is not the only country to have problems and as an animal activist I have seen far worse in other countries - lets face it cruelty towards animals is world wide and I fight it all. Trust me there are many of us helping in Greece but we can only do our best with thee resources at hand - so please I ould ask you all email the Greek government its there best chance!
I agree with you 100%. My boyfriend is Greek and a HUGE dog lover. He was shocked to learn about the abuse towards dogs in Greece. Would love to go there and educate the people and help the animals so boycotting their tourism would not help anybody, especially not the animals.
Put the link up for the G.ment if you have it to hand Lisa.. I have signed everything I know of for the dogs of Greece xx
i need to find it - will post soon xxx
I'am being asked why this is Important to me? Because Dogs, Cats, Pets in General have so much love to give.... All they want to do is please you.... And anyone who would harm a weaker and less smart animal is a Piece of Fucking' Shit.... They will burn in Hell.... Some of them will read this and you know who you are.... I hope I catch you in the act.... God help you if I do!
So true !! I am with you !
You may not be eloquent but l admire your sentiments.
Animals are loving and they give us their unconditional love they should be loved and care for and any one who is abusing them should be punished.
I agree totally Susan!!
MerciAna Maria Barcelos S. Murici :)
animals are innocent, loving, feeling creatures who need us to look out for them! this needs to STOP!
Don't worry I,m never going back since the 2005 Olympics, they removed all the stray dogs from the streets during the Olympics and stated on national television that they'll be returning them to the streets once the Olympics is over...It makes me ashamed to have greek heritage!!!!!!!!!!!!
the crualty against animals must be finished! STOP!
Because I care...
Animals' rights are nowhere respected! This is so cruel and makes me hate these so called humans!
I do not understand this Marina... People should be treated the same for abusing animals as they do children... An animal cannot speak for themselves at all and for someone to mistreat them they are cold heartless a__ holes... I despise them all...
