There is something called animalist propaganda. Baby seels haven't been killed since the 80's. My girlfriend is from les Iles de la Madeleine where there is seel hunting and let me tell you there is a quota and they kill it in a way that the skull is smashed and the nerves are severed. When you see the seel moving after being hit, it's only because the nerves are severed. So start informing yourself and don't fall to that animalist propaganda.

Olivier, you really think normal, thinking, feeling human beings among us in ANY country are going to fall for that line of thug crap? "Animalist propaganda?" How about anti-animal brainwashing by the "blame the animals first" crowd, of which it appears you are a member. "Skull is smashed because the nerves are severed." Yeah, right. OK, how about if we need to get rid of some of the 7 billion humans on this planet, we do it just like that, then turn around and call it "humane?"

First, as I said, baby seel haven't been killed over 30 years. That's what I call animalist propaganda. Second, if you hunt the animal for the food, the flesh, the fur and that you try to kill it as quickly as possible for it will not suffer, I think it is a pretty decent way of killing the animal. What you would prefer? A gun? If you miss the brain, the seel will slowly agonize in pain. Much better...

You shall look elsewhere for animal cruelty, maybe look toward what you eat everyday......

Look it up. This my friend is cruelty.

Have a nice day.

By the way, look it there to see what I'm talking about the Hakapik used to crush the skull so that the seel is killed instantly: http://www.thesealfishery.com/articleView.php?id=65&page=0&sub=1&status=0
And, if you look it up on wikipedia, the article there is wrong. So that's why I've given you that article.

Fine, call them "pre-teen" seals.... Cracking them over the head is still barbaric so I don't give a f*ck where your girlfriend is from. Enjoy

The slaughter of seals especially the babies is absoloutely horrific. To butcher these lovely creatures in that way is beyond me.How do these men sleep at night after the slaughter of these beautiful animals .how would these men (if you can call them that)like it if someone came into their homes and did that to their family.SAME THING.Gods beautiful creatures.ENOUGH is ENOUGH.

in the same way, we shouldnt judge the executors of humans as they also need a roof above them and food to eat...right?

What is it with us human beings? Who do we think we are? Are the young seal skins for clothes? It just doesn't make sense. It is utterly cruel and totally unnecessary!

Canadians have a duty of care and to demonstrate decency as humans to these helpless seals by making their internal protests to this government department meaningful and forceful to end this brutal slaughter. Governments must be held accountable and the people's voice must be heard. Keeping up the pressure on this department is vital to ending this truly barbaric killings. The fact that other vain societies are beginning to turn away from wearing the pelts is a good enough reason for this...

Governments must be held accountable and the people's voice must be heard. Keeping up the pressure on this department is vital to ending this truly barbaric killings. The fact that other vain societies are beginning to turn away from wearing the pelts is a good enough reason for this brutality to stop. But the Canadian government is now stockpiling the pelts for no good reason because the market for pelts is declining- this is criminal and Canadians need to address this nonsensical strategy! Its killing when there is no market for the pelts. The power of the Canadian people is important to stop this.

This incredibly cruel practice must stop now, in the name of all decent minded people who see this dreadfully cruel killing of these beautiful peaceful creatures as so wicked. STOP NOW!

This footage is very disturbing & I am disgusted that this practice is still ongoing. How would these people like it if we chased them down & clubbed them to death? Why must these babies be killed? For women to parade around in their fur coats so they look wealthy? Absolutely DISGUSTING! What a load of bullshit! It sickens me to think that we as a human race allow this to happen. This must stop NOW! Otherwise ou children's children will never know of these beautiful creatures..
