either don't go to school, don't get a student loan or go somewhere very cheap to attend, all you need is the piece of paper saying you graduated and really you do not need that. Stop buying in to the fact that you have to have a degree to be successful, its not true. I would never do it again, look at the thousands of people who have either quit or not even gone to college and been successful. Colleges are charging so much becuase they are getting away with it and people pay. STOP, move to...

Colleges are charging so much becuase they are getting away with it and people pay. STOP, move to europe, they pay nearly nothing for college. I now owe over 150k in loans and I never even got to finish because my husband walked out. now the industry I went into is in the toilet, I will never make that money and they keep passing around my loan like a fresbee and each bank picking it up ads 20k charge, they have threatened to take my other degrees, my social security, my pay check, my house, my tax refunds and I'm close to retirement, not sure if I will have a house or even my social security money when I really need it. People are getting rich off of you, stop buying in. Start a business, you'll be better off.

I made a decision I thought was prudent and wise to return to school in my 30s and finish my degree (English Lit - yeah, I know...). I'm now in the position of regretting what had been a wonderful experience. It helped me land a decent job, but not so good I can pay these loans back without leaving myself literally nothing else. I will have this debt forever, and consequently I can't save for my kid's education. Was Proust worth it? I'd love to say yes, but...

Banks should be ashamed of themselves. They will be the death of me. Just let mu daughter persue her dreams.

When I graduated from high school in 2003, it seemed like the right thing to do was go to college, my family didn't save money for me, and just turning 18 getting a student loan didn't sound bad at all! If I could go back in time I would not of got a loan for school! I pay almost $500 a month! I just bought my first house but it was so hard to get here and with m new home bills it makes me even more mad hearing that they are considering a new tax on oil and propane for heating a house!...

Between student loans and oil I'm at almost $1000 a month! I work my butt off and my student loans never get any lower, it's depressing! Student loans shouldn't even exist. So many good paying jobs require college degrees but by the time you pay your loans your hourly salary Is that of Someone who didn't go to college, so whats the point!

Let's get OUR bail out. But the home owners did not get their's either...so I doubt we will see such a thing. I think it will be impossible because those who did pay for their own college or their kids will resent other getting a bail out, at least that I would expect from conservatives...even though the price of secondary schooling keeps escalating...I personally wish we would invest in secondary education, especially for doctors, nurses and mental health care providers I hear we need so...

I am 62 years old and I am still paying on loans. I expect to go to my grave with this debt, since they will look for payment, even when I am on Social Security.
