I am teaching outreach program it the kids for Hoffman Boston in Arlington, VA.The kids benefit so much. But I was optimistic (WAW) and pressed 39%.Lilia, Lilia , you were so wrong. So sad!
They are heading in that same direction to take writing classes away too. This is the governments way in continuing to dummy everyone down. Writing, arts, etc... all ways of expressing our feelings, communicating, getting our words out to the public... think about it.
Are you f***ing kidding me? That's pathetic.
Sheesh... I suppose that it should not surprise me, I knew it wouldn't be 82%, but somehow, I thought that it would be more than 4%. Pitiful. The Humanities are being neglected at an increasingly wider rate--much to society's loss.

Having an arts education is so crucial... it's giving youth a soulful way of expressing themselves... building confidence and self-esteem. How do we do more for our children?

Pathetic...our children are not getting the exposure they require at such an impressionable age. Even if they never become "an artist" the reality is when they grow up the chances of appreciating the arts will be harder for them to enjoy and support.
it is a fact but what is the solution ? from West Africa.....E.mail : [email protected]
Doesn't surprise me. When I was in school, my school district considered drama/theatre very important and I took classes in Junior High and High School but nothing was offered in elementary school like that!
time flies and things fall apart ....
This is definitely worth taking a look at. And friends like Missie and Sean-Edward and other friends who are in theater will find it more interesting/ sad.
I agree with you Gina and I sent this to all of my friends and colleagues as well!
Damn, I was hoping it wasn't that bad.
Lest we become too discouraged, here are three stats from the Navigator to encourage arts supporters: 93% of Americans agree that the arts are a vital part of a well-rounded education; 96% of elementary schools offer music; and at-risk kids who participate in the arts are 5x more likely to graduate from high school!
